The Progressive Study Club of Jacksonville donated a gift of $8,000 to the Jones International House on April 1, 2014, in memory of Mrs. Mary Edd Hay.

The Progressive Study Club gave the donation during their meeting at the Jones International House, which has been their location of choice for several years.

Dr. John Ketterer, members of Mrs. Hay’s family, and club members were present at the meeting. Dr. Ketterer made a presentation to the club about the history and significance of the International House in the process of globalizing the university and promoting an appreciation of diversity with special emphasis on the role of the Alabama Federation of Women's Clubs.

The Progressive Study Club of Jacksonville has existed for 79 years and their donation will be directed to the Alabama Federation of Women’s Club or AFWC Scholarship Fund held in trust in the JSU Foundation. The Progressive Study Club is associated with the AFWC, which historically has served to create civic power for women.

Dr. William A. Meehan, President of Jacksonville State University, commented saying, “We are indeed grateful to the Progressive Study Club for their generosity and appreciation of the fine work conducted through our Dr. and Mrs. Jones International House Program.”
