You're invited to Jacksonville State University’s Cleburne County Mountain Center to ring in the holiday in the mountains at the edge of the Talladega National Forest on December 14, 2013. This is a free event!

Take Joy! The Reason for the Season
11:00 am – Noon
Join storyteller Renee Morrison as she shares portions of her favorite holiday book and snippets from the film, Take Joy! which documents the unique “19th Century life and holiday traditions” of artist and writer Tasha Tudor (1915-2008). Participants are reminded of the true meaning of this special holiday and leave filled with joy and anticipation.
Caribbean Chrome Steel Drum Christmas Concert
Noon—1:00 pm
Lively steel drum performers from Caribbean Chrome will perform Christmas songs Caribbean style!
Mountain Center Programs for Children
1:00 pm—3:00 pm
Jingle Bell Magic! Christmas Fairies & Elves at 1:00 pm
A magical storytelling with Ms. Renee!! (Feel free to bring your own Elf “off” the Shelf or your favorite stuffed animal to snuggle during the event); each child will receive an “enchanted” jingle bell necklace.
Make & Take Christmas Ornaments from 1:00 pm—3:00 pm
Children can create their own Holly Jolly Owls and Candy Colored Snow Men ornaments. Friends of the TNF gifts will also be on sale throughout the day
Feeding Winter Wildlife Activities at 2:00 pm
Learn how to encourage wild creatures to your back yard and what they need to survive the cold winter months.
