Pathways to Progress Grant at Jax State
Ready to finish your degree? Jax State is proud to be part of Alabama’s Pathways to Progress Initiative, a program designed to help adults return to college, complete their education, and build stronger communities.
Through this state-funded grant, eligible students can receive up to $3,000 per semester toward a bachelor’s degree at Jax State. Here’s what you need to know:
- Full-time students (12+ credit hours) may receive the full $3,000 each semester they qualify.
- Part-time students (6–11 credit hours) will receive a prorated amount.
- The grant only applies up to 120 credit hours toward an eligible program.
- Students can only receive funds from one participating school per semester.
- Funds are awarded first come, first serve—so don’t wait to apply!
This initiative is supported by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE) to boost economic growth and workforce readiness across the state.
Student Eligibility Requirements
- Resident of one of the following counties: Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Talladega, or Randolph
- Hold an Associate’s degree and have earned a minimum of 60 credit hours toward a baccalaureate degree at the time of applying for the Pathways to Progress Initiative
- Have a completed 2025-2026 FAFSA on file
- Be in good Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standing
- Enrolled as full-time or part-time in an eligible program at Jacksonville State University leading to a Bachelor’s degree
How to Apply
- Submit the Pathways to Progress Application by the deadline each semester
- Fall 2025 – September 15, 2025
- Spring 2026 – February 15, 2026
- Summer 2026 – June 15, 2026
- Provide a copy of a driver’s license or official government ID that verifies the student’s residence in one of the eligible counties
