UPDATE: Due to COVID-19, the lecture series will resume in Fall 2020.

The JSU Department of English has launched a new lecture series bringing published authors to campus to share their creative works with students, faculty, staff and the community.

“Our visiting writers series is exciting because it brings well-known authors to our area and is the first of its kind at JSU,” said Dr. Andrea Porter, head of the English department.

The department will host its first visiting author on March 12, when SM Wheeler will read from and discuss the novel, “Sea Change,” at 4:30 p.m. at R. Carlton Ward Theatre in the Ernest Stone Performing Arts Center.

On April 8, Tiphanie Yanique will discuss the poetry collection “Wife,” novel “Land of Love and Drowning,” and the short story collection, “How to Escape From a Leper Colony,” at 4:30 p.m. at R. Carlton Ward Theatre in Ernest Stone Performing Arts Center.

All readings are free and open to the public.
