University Statement Regarding Student Data

02/23/2016

Earlier today, the university became aware of a website containing personal information of students, including phone numbers, addresses, birthdates and ID photos.

This matter is being investigated internally as well as by state and federal law enforcement agencies. It is recommended that all students change their student log in and email passwords.

Information Technology personnel will be available to render assistance as needed.

Vinson Houston, vice president for information technology, said the university places high priority on JSU's internet security and protection of student data, and will do what is necessary to address this issue.
