Would you like to find meaning and have an unforgettable educational experience while getting course credit as part of a study abroad opportunity?

Your chance will come May 2017 through "Community Development in the Dominican Republic," part of Dr. Erin Rider's course on Global Migration: Patterns and Trends (SY 362). The course and study abroad are open to all students.

The trip is scheduled for eight days, May 16-23, 2017, during which participants will take on a service learning project to work with local communities to address local to urban migration issues and challenges. Working with community members and local non-profits, students will build sustainable solutions to systemic community problems as they connect with locals and become immersed in Dominican culture.

If this opportunity intrigues you, learn more at the first interest meeting on March 7 at 2 p.m. in Brewer Hall, Room 328. At the meeting Dr. Rider will discuss:

  • Class and study abroad component
  • Course requirements (SY 362 can count as a 300+ elective, and the SY 221 prerequisite can count as a General Studies requirement)
