On June 25-29, 2014, Zeta Tau Alpha sorority held its biennial National ZTA Convention in Los Angeles, CA. JSU delegates Meg Nevels, President; Elizabeth Spoon, Treasurer; and Sydney Jones, Historian, were honored to receive awards on behalf of their chapter.
Guided Archaeology Tour of Calhoun, St. Clair Counties Will Be August 16

Come along with JSU’s Dr. Harry Holstein for a guided archaeology tour of various sites throughout Calhoun and St. Clair counties. We will visit Janney Iron Furnace, a 19th century battlefield and river locks, a prehistoric Indian village, and much more.
August 26 is Last Day to Make or Arrange Payment for Fall Tuition

The second and final due date for fall payment will be August 26, 2014. All students should have their account paid in full, be enrolled in a payment plan, or have enough financial aid applied to their accounts by close of business on this date in order to avoid having classes cancelled.
Brett Johnson Elected Chair of Statewide SGA Presidents' Council

Jacksonville State University Student Government Association President Brett Allen Johnson was elected on August 4 to serve as the 2014-2015 Chairperson of the University Student Presidents’ Council.
Sigma Nu to Present Hotrods for Heroes to Benefit Wounded Warrior Project

The Sigma Nu Fraternity will present Hotrods for Heroes, a car show to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, on Saturday October 11 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Jacksonville State University Alumni House on the JSU campus, 700 Pelham Road North in Jacksonville. This public event will feature live entertainment and raffles.
Calhoun County Civic Chorale Seeks New Members as 2014 Fall Season Begins

The Calhoun County Civic Choral will begin its fall season on Monday, August 25, 2014 at 7:15 p.m., in the Performance Center of Mason Hall. The Chorale will begin rehearsing music for December 7th Winter Concert of J. S. Bach’s Cantata 140 Sleepers Awake” and the Vivaldi Gloria. The concert will be held at the Church of St. Michael and All Angels in Anniston.
President's, Deans' Lists for Spring 2014 Announced

Jacksonville State University announces the following students were added to the President's and Deans' Lists for Spring 2014. To be named to the President's List, a student must earn a perfect 4.0 grade point average, or all As. Students earning all As and Bs are named to the Deans' List.

On August 23, 2014, the JSU’s A Cappella Choir will be hosting a yard sale in the IGA – Priceless Supermarket’s parking lot, located at 802 Pelham Road South in Jacksonville. The sale will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will end at 1:00 p.m.

ROTC Invites Campus to Adventure Day on August 19

Hey, JSU, are you ready for adventure? Come join the Cadets and Cadre of Jacksonville State University's ROTC at Rowe Hall on Tuesday, August 19 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for a fun filled day. Students will have the opportunity to rappel from our Rappel Tower, engage silhouettes with our paintball rifles, and dunk ROTC Staff in the dunk booth. In addition, we will provide students with pizza and drinks. It's all free!
JSU Sorority Sisters Give Firefighters Pandas, Donation

The 2014-2015 academic year at Jacksonville State University is starting on a positive note for at least one group of young women. The JSU students, members of Delta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi (AOII) sorority, are already working, not in the classroom but in the community to honor a pledge they made to the Jacksonville Fire Department.
