The members of the JSU Campus Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) extend a cordial invitation to all JSU students, faculty, and staff to join the CERT organization. Campus CERT educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as:
• Disaster preparedness
• Fire safety
• Disaster Medical Operations – First-Aide/Triage
• Light search and rescue operations
• CERT organization
• Disaster psychology
• Terrorism and CERT
Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others within the campus/community or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects on their campus.
The CERT organization will be holding a meeting in the basement of Salls Hall on March 4, 2014 at 6:00 pm to discuss upcoming events, elect officers, and schedule spring CERT Training. If you have any questions or concernsm, please call or email Melonie Carmichael at firstname.lastname@example.org or ext: 5282.
