Calling All Singers-- The Calhoun County Civic Chorale Begins Rehearsals for Its Fall Season

08/05/2013

On Monday, August 26, 2013 the Calhoun County Civic Chorale will begin rehearsals for its Fall concert season. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings from 7:15 p.m. – 9:15 p.m. in the Performance Center of Mason Hall and the Jacksonville State University campus. The Chorale will be joining forces with the JSU A Cappella Choir to perform the Christmas portion and other highlight of Handel’s Messiah.

The Calhoun County Civic Chorale is under the direction of JSU Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Patricia Corbin, and is one of five choral ensembles sponsored by the JSU David L. Walters Department of Music.  Its membership includes people of the community, as well as JSU students and faculty. Chorale members are singers who have voices that can match pitch and blend well with others, are able to learn their individual vocal part from written music, and enjoy singing classical choral masterworks. New members are always welcome.

The first rehearsal is a “New Member Open House” where interested singers may come and experience the chorale without further obligation. If you decide to join the Chorale the cost for participation this semester will be $35 for dues, plus the cost of the music. JSU students may participate in the Chorale (“Chorus” MU 162/362) for college credit.  Talented area high school students may also join the Chorale with a recommendation from their high school choir director.
