Music Organizations Need Donations for Nov. 3 Yard Sale

10/26/2012

On Saturday, November 3, the JSU Student Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and the JSU International Tuba-Euphonium Chapter (JSUITEA) will hold a yard sale at the Wesley Foundation from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. Both student chapters are raising money to cover the costs of travel expenses to attend their respective conventions in the spring.

JSU Director of Choral Activities Dr. Patricia Corbin and JSU Tuba/Euphonium instructor Chris Hosmer are advisors for the two groups and decided to combine forces to fundraise for their students. “Both of our conventions are being held the same week in March,” says Dr. Corbin.  “The ACDA National Convention is in Dallas and the ITEA Convention is in Jacksonville, Florida. It made sense to Chris and I to have our groups work together.”

The groups are asking the community for donations of unwanted items for the sale. Furniture, clean children’s clothing, working appliances, glassware, knick knacks, toys, bicycles, art, clean linens and other household items are just some of the things that the groups are hoping will be donated.

Donations may be dropped off at the Wesley Foundation on Friday, November 2, from 8 a.m. - noon and from 4 - 7 p.m., or you may contact the Choral Activities office to make arrangements for pick up. Any donated items leftover from the sale will be given to charity.
