JSU Cybersecurity Research Group Wins Award

08/16/2012

The 16th Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education awarded the “Best Paper” award to the research publication titled “Cyberattacks on SCADA Systems” in June, 2012. The paper is co-authored by Dr. Guillermo Francia III, Dr. David Thornton, and Mr. Thomas Brookshire of the Center for Information Security and Assurance in the MCIS department at JSU.

The Colloquium is an international forum for collaboration between academia, government, and industry entities in promoting information assurance curricula at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The research paper presents an overview of the vulnerabilities of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and describes proof-of-concept methods of attacking some of these vulnerabilities.
