Master of Public Administration with a Concentration in Geographical Information Systems
Jacksonville State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Master of Public Administration with concentration in Geographical Information Systems degree.
The Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in Geographical Information Systems was developed for mid-career professionals that want to enter the geographic information systems (GIS) field, or for those already employed in geographic information systems positions that need graduate work to meet their professional development needs. This master's degree program was specifically designed to meet the recent state requirements that all county and municipalities implement GIS into their planning and operations in the state of Alabama. Neighboring states have similar requirements in place.
Hourse to Complete: A total of 39 semester hours is required for the degree. The student must complete 15 semester hours in the GIS concentration, 18 semester hours in required public administration courses, and six semester hours of electives (three semester hours of electives if an internship is required).
