JSU offers a variety of courses available online and through videoconferencing. The policies and procedures for admission to JSU for distance education students and registration for distance education courses are the same as that for traditional students and courses.

To see a schedule of these courses for a specific term, please go to the Search For Courses page then follow the instructions provided.

Online Courses

In meeting the needs of the 21st century, Jacksonville State University is committed to developing courses for online distribution.

  • Debunking Common Myths about Online Classes at JSU
  • Taking examinations in online courses - You may be required to identify a testing agent or proctor in your region. Your instructor should provide more details on this matter once you begin taking a course.
  • Unless otherwise notified, Online Course students are expected to begin work on their course on the first day of the term.

Videoconferencing

Videoconferencing is used as a presentation format for a selected number of courses. This technology allows for the interaction of the instructor with their class using an advanced teleconferencing system. Videoconferencing classes are conducted at several different locations. You may review the Videoconferencing Sites page for more information.

Though videoconferencing class schedules are indicated in the JSU class schedule, your instructor may have specific requirements regarding meeting times and dates. If you are unsure, please contact your instructor.

Requirements: Students may be required to access the Blackboard and JSU Email systems. Please review the System Requirements for Blackboard.
