Blackboard IM is an enterprise instant messaging platform designed and built for education that allows for student, faculty, and staff collaboration using chat, voice, video, whiteboard, web, application sharing, and web conferencing.
This tool may also be used to set up help desks for faculty and student services units. If you would like to establish a help desk, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Blackboard IM Resources: Blackboard Collaborate provides an On-Demand Learning Center with documentation and training on Blackboard IM.
Blackboard Collaborate Voice Authoring is a powerful collaborative toolset that may be used for the following: inclusion of the instructor's voice to enhance presence; build engaging and reusable course content; create and distribute podcasts; explain complex material; author narrated web tours; add spoken announcements to Blackboard courses; engage in audio-based threaded discussions; send voice comments on assignments, and teach pronunciation, rhythm, stress, and emphasis. The collaborative features include a podcaster, voice presentation, voice discussion board, voice authoring, and voice email.

Web Conferencing: Blackboard Collaborate provides live virtual classroom/meeting spaces supporting multi-way audio, video, application sharing, polling, and content display. These web conferencing rooms may be used within every Blackboard course (guest access can be provided) or outside of the Blackboard interface via a web browser. JSU faculty and staff members that do not use Blackboard, but wish to hold a web conferencing session, should send an email to email@example.com to request access. Please include the name and email address of the presenter, as well as a short description of the intended purpose/use.
Finally, Blackboard Collaborate web conferences can now be launched from within Blackboard IM by students, faculty, and staff using the Conference option under the Tools menu. Full conference recording capabilities are available. Blackboard Collaborate Mobile provides access to Collaborate web conferencing sessions from iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire mobile devices.

The Blackboard Collaborate support portal provides users with self-help content, as well as the ability to contact the Blackboard Collaborate support team for live help. Tickets may also be submitted through this portal.
