University to Award Cocky CARES Grants

Dear Students,

JSU is pleased to announce the availability of Cocky CARES grants to provide financial assistance to eligible students during this difficult time. The federal government has awarded special aid to universities through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, which is part of the American Rescue Plan Act. JSU will distribute its share of the student funding in a way that prioritizes students with the greatest demonstrated financial need and ensures that funds are distributed as widely as possible.

All eligible JSU students have been selected to receive this grant funding, based on the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) reported on their 2021-2022 FAFSA. The amount of this award varies from student to student, depending upon their EFC and enrollment status. Cocky CARES grants do not have to be paid back.

Cocky CARES grants do not require an application but do require acknowledgement by the student. Eligible students will receive an email from the university by the end of this week. If selected to receive the funds, students must follow the directions in the email notification to complete an acknowledgment form before funds can be distributed. Once this form has been received, students can expect funds to be disbursed within 2-3 weeks. Students must accept these funds by October 1, 2021 or lose eligibility.
