COVID-19 Update: July 27, 2020

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Since I shared my COVID-19 diagnosis with you on Thursday, my symptoms never worsened beyond a mild headache, with no fever. Through the contact-tracing process, JSU’s COVID-19 Task Force contact tracer determined that I contracted the virus on or around July 9, and my initial test occurred near the end of my illness. Based on Alabama Department of Public Health guidelines, I was directed to self-isolate until Sunday, July 26.

While I self-isolated over the weekend, my condition continued to improve to the point that I no longer felt ill. This morning, I retested at the Student Health Center, and the results were negative. Additionally, the President’s Cabinet and Office of the President's staff have also tested negative. Therefore, I plan to go back to the office effective Tuesday, July 28, and I will participate in commencement ceremonies this weekend.

Thank you for the outpouring of support and well wishes.

Sincerely,

Dr. Don C. Killingsworth, Jr.
President
