Mr. Mayfield is a graduate of Jacksonville State University holding BS and MBA degrees from this institution.  Immediately following his BS degree, he went to work with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Gadsden, Alabama.  His career with Goodyear spanned 35 years and included Human Resource Manager positions in seven (7) different facilities in five (5) different states.  These assignments included Gadsden, AL; Niagara Falls, NY; Union City, TN; Beaumont, Houston, and Bayport, TX; and Freeport, IL. Mr. Mayfield has now been employed as a Management Instructor at Jacksonville State University for 13 years where he has taught ten (10) different Management and Human Resource Management undergraduate and graduate courses.   His favorite courses to teach are Advanced Human Resource Management (Employment Law, MGT 389) and Collective Bargaining (MGT 490).  He has the distinction of having been an undergraduate student, graduate student, and Instructor in the tornado devastated Merrill Hall.  His publications include the following areas of business:  Absenteeism in Industry; Mandatory Arbitration; Workplace Violence in the South; and Non-Compete Agreements.  His current interests include the Past and Current Status of Labor Unions in the Private and Public Sectors. He has been an active member of the Calhoun County Society for Human Resource Management (CC SHRM) for ten (10) years and currently serves as the Chapter’s Director of College Relations. In addition, he has served as the JSU SHRM Chapter Sponsor for this time period.
