The Alabama legislature appropriated graduate scholarship funds from the Education Trust Fund in the 2010 General Session. The Board of Nursing administers the scholarship funds. The deadline for completed applications is July 30, 2010. There are two separate scholarships. The post-baccalaureate scholarship is for registered nurses pursuing a graduate degree in nursing. There will be fifteen scholarships awarded at $2,515 each. One of the requirements is a commitment to practice in Alabama for one year following graduation and receipt of the graduate degree. The second scholarship program is specific for those registered nurses seeking a graduate degree in nursing or a health-related field. There will be forty scholarships awarded at $5,000 each. One of the requirements is a commitment to teach nursing in an Alabama college or university for one year post-graduation.
