6th Annual Canyon Fest: “A Celebration of Art & Nature”
10/29/2014
Jacksonville State University’s Little River Canyon Center will host its 6th annual Canyon Fest Saturday, November 1, 2014. Designed to encourage an appreciation for the environment, its resources and local culture the JSU Canyon Center has organized a day filled with local music, cuisine, art and vendors. The festivities for that day also include live demonstrations, art sales, activities, exhibits and more!
“Canyon Fest has become one of the most anticipated events of the season,” says Anna Lindsey, Little River Canyon Center Sales and Services Coordinator. “It’s a great place to find unique holiday gift items and at the same time support local artisans and environmental education.”
Special features include Blacksmith Demonstration, Performance by Fiddler Matt Downer, Native American Tools & Weapons Program, the Canyon Center’s HD film experience: Little River Canyon: CENTER of the Universe, Little River Trivia, rock climbing demonstrations, National Park Service Exhibit, Kids’ Court and more!
“We anticipate a great turnout for Canyon Fest this year,” says Renee Morrison, JSU Field Schools’ Assistant Director. She adds “This is an opportunity for people of all ages to learn about nature, art and the diversity of Northeast Alabama. Where else can one go to explore a canyon, learn about nature, view spectacular autumn color, hear award-winning musicians, eat great tasting food, and watch artists weave, paint, whittle and forge?”
Although the facility is open daily from 10:00 to 4:00, Canyon Fest provides a special opportunity to experience the Little River Canyon Center, its exhibits, trails and people on a beautiful autumn day.
