Salvation Army Territorial Disaster Coordinator Jeff Jellets to Present During April 7 JSU IAEM Student Chapter Meeting Online

03/18/2014

The JSU student chapter of the International Association of Emergency Managers invites students to join the conversation online on April 7, 2014 at noon CDT for the monthly chapter meeting.  Our April guest speaker is Jeff Jellets from The Salvation Army - Southern Territory in Atlanta, Georgia.  Jeff is the Territorial Disaster Coordinator as well as a fellow JSU student.

In September 1900, The Salvation Army responded to its first disaster, helping survivors of the great hurricane that hit Galveston, Texas.  Since that time, The Salvation Army has served first responders and rescue workers at the sites of both natural and man-made disasters, from tornadoes, wildfires, hurricanes, transportation accidents, terrorist attacks, floods and more.  In fact, The Salvation Army has served at nearly every major disaster since 1900, including the Oklahoma City Bombing, Hurricane Katrina, the World Trade Center and Pentagon bombings, and the devastating tornadoes in Joplin, Missouri.

Jeff will provide an overview of the Response and Recovery efforts made during the Oklahoma tornadoes in the Spring of 2013.
