KISS ME, KATE

Brush up your Shakespeare for the classic show-within-a-show which has been delighting audiences since its debut in 1948, and gained a new following with its Tony Award-winning 1999 revival! Producer, director, and leading man Fred C. Graham is looking for a hit with his musical version of Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, but gets more drama than he bargained for when he casts his ex-wife, the diva Lilli Vanessi. Art imitates life as the stars battle their way through an outrageous opening night that includes a visit from a would-be Vice President and two suspicious “businessmen” who join the cast at the last minute.  The classic Cole Porter score includes “Another Op’nin’, Another Show,” “So In Love,” “Always True to You in My Fashion,” and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare.”

With jazz-inspired choreography, whimsical sets and costumes, and our largest orchestra yet, Kiss Me, Kate promises to be a rare treat. Don’t miss this sophisticated and charming musical comedy featuring a large cast of students and favorite faculty members, including our very own Carlton Ward!

Directed by Michael Boynton
