In 1990, Ms. Camp received her bachelors degree from Judson College majoring in Art with a double minor in French and equine science. After graduation, she began taking community sign language courses from a local interpreter; she became with the interpreter's deaf daughter and learned ASL. In 1991, she came to JSU searching for a part-time job as an interpreter.

Ms. Camp has an Advanced Plus rating on the SCPI, a Level IV on the NAD, and is a nationally-certified interpreter. She teaches sign languages classes at JSU through the Continuing Education Department and has seen three of her students also become interpreters.

In December of 1997, Ms. Camp received her Masters in English from JSU; the following February she was hired as the Disability Specialist: Deafness. Her responsibilities include making presentations, conducting workshops, providing outreach and technical assistance, interpreting, student advising, tutoring, and much more.
