Octubafest Set for
Oct. 22 - 27

Jacksonville State University's Octubafest 2006 will be held the week of Sunday, October 22 through Friday, October 27. All performances will be held at the Performing Arts Center on campus.

The opening concert will feature student performances beginning at 3 p.m. on Sun., Oct. 22. Come enjoy the rich sound of the euphonium and tuba.Octubafest includes free music, fun, and food.

JSU's resident brass quintet, JBQ (Jacksonville Brass Quintet), made up of JSU faculty, will perform a concert on Monday evening, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. Featured musicians will be Dr. John Merriman, trumpet; Dr. Chip Crofts, trumpet; Jeff Solomon, horn; Dr. James Roberts, trombone; and Chris Hosmer, tuba.

Student performances will be held Tuesday, Oct. 24, beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, Oct. 25, special guest Eric Bubacz will give a recital on tuba beginning at 7 p.m. Mr. Bubacz will hold a master class at 8:30 p.m. for students and anyone else who is interested and brings an instrument.

The final concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 27 and will feature the euphoniums and tubas in ensembles. The performance will include some featured groups as well as the mass Tuba Euphonium Ensemble.
