Dr. Benjie Blair Receives ASM Teaching Award

Dr. Benjie Blair of the department of biology at Jacksonville State University was awarded the prestigious Margaret Green award for teaching. The award was presented by his peers at the 2-4 November 2006 meeting of the Southeastern Branch of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM).  The meeting was held at Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, GA.

First awarded in 1986, the award is named in honor of Margaret Green, Professor Emeritus of Microbiology at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and recipient of the National ASM Carski Teaching Award in 1977. This award is presented to an individual who has rendered outstanding service in the teaching of microbiology, particularly at the undergraduate level, while at an institution within the geographic area of the Southeastern Branch of the American Society for Microbiology.  The branch covers all of Alabama and Georgia and much of the state of Florida.
