Pre-Health Professional

All Jacksonville State University Freshman, Sophomore, or first-time Transfer Pre-Health Professional students must report for group advisement during the schedule listed below.

Each semester or term a group advisement schedule will be posted on the Department of Biology's webpage,, no later than a week before the start of advisement periods. Several dates and times for advisement will be posted for each advisement period. Call 782-5642 or 782-5643 to select an advisement appointment.

Assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. All group advisement, depending on the day, will take place in Martin Hall, Rooms 122 or 130. Please have a trial schedule completed when you arrive. See the JSU Catalogue, Department of Biology, for a list of course requirements in the suggested Plan of Study: Program in Pre-Health Professional Biology.

First-time Transfer Pre-Health Professional students must bring to the advisement session documentation of previous course completions at any other regionally-accredited institution(s).

To enter the Pre-Health Professional program, you must complete ALL prerequisite courses and maintain an overall 3.0 GPA through your freshman and sophomore years. Upon completion of all prerequisite courses and GPA requirements, you will be assigned an individual advisor to assist you through the balance of your Pre-Health program.

The committee strongly recommends that Biology, Chemistry, Math requirements be met early in your program requirements.
