Remembering Jack Hopper
Distinguished JSU Administrator

Photos By Steve Latham

JSU president, Dr. William A. Meehan, is shown here during the Fall 2006 graduation exercises formally bestowing Vice President Emeritus status to Jack Hopper.

The Jack Hopper Dining Hall at Jacksonville State University was named in honor of Jack Hopper in 1980 at the recommendation of Dr. Ernest Stone, JSU's president at the time. Prior to this honor, Hopper had served as the Director of Public Relations for 14 years. Dr. Stone also selected Jack to be the Administrative Assistant to the President during his tenure.

Following his retirement from Jacksonville State University, Jack Hopper continued to work part time as special assistant to the president. Drawing upon his service as a lobbyist for the university, Jack is onhand to welcome Alabama Gov. Riley to the JSU campus while continuing to serve JSU after entering retirement.
