Services Announced for Recent JSU Graduate
Laurie Alexis Vezertzis

Laurie Alexis Vezertzis, 26, beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece and cousin, passed away peacefully on Dec. 18, 2007. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 21 at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Rainbow City. Father Pat Wingo and Father David Hall will officiate. Visitation will be held in the Parish Hall of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection from 6 to 8 tonight.

Laurie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Terry Simpson Sr. and Vasillious Vezertzis.

She is survived by her parents, Karon and Nick Vezertzis; sister, Amy (Mark) Vandewater; nephew, Mark Vandewater; niece, Katie Vandewater; grandparent, Syble Dooley (Ken); aunts and uncles, Kelly and Michael Underwood, Terry and Tonja Simpson, Pat and Billie Vezertzis, Phillip Vezertzis, Rick and Aspasia Ramey, Carolyn and Dennis Langley and Billy Vezertzis; numerous special cousins; special friends, Robert Hunter, Marcie Leonard and Martha Green; and her precious dog, Lexie.

Laurie grew up in the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection where she was an Acolyte and nursery sitter at church. She graduated from Gadsden High School in 1999. She was elected to the Alabama All-Star Softball Team and was student athlete her senior year. Laurie attended the University of Alabama and recently graduated from Jacksonville State University with a B.S. in social work. She was recently inducted into Phi Alpha Honor Society.

Laurie's love of family, her love of children and her nurturing demeanor will be just a few of her many attributes that will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 113 Brown Ave., Rainbow City, AL 35906.
