Winners of the 7th Annual Gamecock Gallop
and the 5th Annual Gamecock Youth Run


The 7th Annual Gamecock Gallop and the 5th Annual Gamecock Youth run was held on October 27, 2007 at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

The 5-K race attracted over 200 runners setting a record for the number of participants. Drew Bell won the overall male 1st place medal, and Christy Riddle won the overall female 1st place medal. Ages of the 5-K participants ranged from 7 – 84 years of age. The youngest female was Annslyn Pilkington, age 7, and the youngest male was Jase Bell, age 8. The oldest female participant was Yo Setser, age 70. The oldest participant overall was Wilburn Smallwood at the age of 84.

The youth run had the most participants ever, with over 225 runners. Over 90 medals were awarded and 3 school trophies were presented. Spring Garden was presented the trophy for the most participants with 67 students participating. Kitty Stone received the second place trophy with 51 students participating. Oxford Elementary was presented the trophy for the most improved attendance increasing from 4 participants in 2006 to 39 in 2007. Schools that participated included Kitty Stone, Weaver Elementary, Spring Garden, Oxford Elementary, Saks Elementary, CE Hannah Elementary, Coldwater Elementary, Glencoe Elementary, and Golden Springs Elementary.
