Dr. Jennifer Gross, Jacksonville State University Associate Professor of
History, presented a paper titled “Widows in Confederate Fiction: ‘The Lives of the Men Would be Changed Comparatively Little’” at a
Symposium on the 19th Century Press, the Civil War, and Free Expression in Chattanooga held November 10, 2007. Dr. Gross received the
