Rowe Hall Observes
Half-Staff Flag Tribute
in Honor of
Admiral William Crowe, Jr.

Recently the flags at Rowe Hall were flown at half-staff in tribute to Admiral William Crowe, Jr. who died in Bethesda, Maryland Thursday, Oct 17, at the age of 82. LTC Henry "Chip" Hester observed the tribute on campus since the ROTC/Military Science Department serves as the campus representative of the Department of Defense.

According to procedures for half-staffing of the national flag in honor of Admiral William Crowe, Jr., as issued by the U.S. Department of Defense, a directed half staffing of the flag began Oct. 18 in honor of Admiral William Crowe, Jr., former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.

According to the directive, the flag was to remain at half staff on all Department of Defense buildings, grounds, and naval vessels throughout the United States and abroad through 24 October 07.

Flags were to be returned to the top of the staff on Wednesday, Oct. 25. In recognition of Admiral Crowe's interment, flags were to be returned to half staff on 31 October for one day only.
