Anniston Post Office Offers T. rex Pictorial Postmark

Anniston, AL - As a community service, the Postal Service offers pictorial postmarks to commemorate local events celebrated in communities throughout the nation. The Anniston Post Office will offer a special pictorial postmark commemorating the opening of "A T. rex Named SUE" at Anniston Museum of Natural History.

The postmark, authorized by Anniston Museum and the United States Postal Service, will be available September 22, 2007 from noon to 3:00 p.m. People attending the event may obtain the postmark in person at the temporary Post Office located in the Museum lobby. Customers can purchase stamped envelopes bearing the T. rex pictorial postmark, purchase SUE postcards from Anniston Museum Store, or bring their own stamped envelopes for cancellation.

Those who cannot attend the event but who wish to obtain a postmark should affix stamps to any envelope or postcard of their choice, address the envelope or card to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and address it to: Pictorial Postmarks, A T. Rex Celebration Station, 1101 Quintard Avenue, Anniston, Alabama, 36201-9998. Requests must be postmarked no later than 30 days following the requested pictorial postmark date.

The T. rex pictorial postmark will be available only for the September 22, 2007 SUE opening day event from noon until 3:00 p.m.

"A T. rex Named SUE" will be exhibited at Anniston Museum from Sept 22,2007 through January 6, 2008.
