Distance Education Offering New & Revised Blackboard Training Workshops in September

Fall classes have started but it is not too late to get Blackboard training!

 

During the month of September, the following new and revised faculty training opportunities are available from the Office of Distance Education:

 

Wednesday, September 12, 2007 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. or 2:00-3:30 p.m.

(Please register before 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 11)

Getting Familiar with My Blackboard Course (1.5 hours)

Topics covered in this workshop include system requirements, logging into Blackboard, My Institution tab, accessing a course, basic content addition, instructor/course announcements and staff/faculty information. 

 

Tuesday, September 18, 2007 from 9:15-10:45 a.m. or 2:30-4:00 p.m.

(Please register before 12:00 p.m., Monday, September 17)

Adding Content and Assignments (1.5-2 hours)

Topics covered in this workshop include course design, functionality and creation of learning units, glossary, assignment creation/submission tool, course links, course copy procedures and settings.  This workshop is geared towards faculty who have completed the “Getting Familiar with My Blackboard Course” or the equivalent.

 

Thursday, September 27, 2007 from 9:15-10:45 a.m. or 2:30-4:00 p.m.

(Please register before 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 26)

Communication Tools (2 hours)

Topics covered in this workshop include Blackboard email functions, discussion board, virtual classroom, chat, user groups and student homepages. This workshop is geared towards faculty who have completed “Adding Content and Assignments” or the equivalent.

If you are unable to attend training on the scheduled dates/times or if you prefer individual assistance, please contact Misty Cobb (782-8172 or mcobb@jsu.edu) to schedule a one-on-one training opportunity.  Additionally, you may request specific training in areas other than those listed above.
