Updating Progress of JSU Gamecocks' Move
to Football Bowl Subdivision

According to an article in the August 19th edition of the Anniston Star, written by Al Muskewitz, Sports Writer for the Star, JSU is seriously exploring a proposed move in the NCAA program:

Despite an NCAA moratorium designed to slow movement within its ranks, Jacksonville State says it remains committed to a fast track for taking its football program to the highest classification in the game.

The school’s board of trustees met with university president Bill Meehan for nearly 90 minutes Saturday to update the progress of the Gamecocks’ exploration of moving to the Football Bowl Subdivision, formerly known as Division I-A.

Out of the meeting came plans to send a letter to the NCAA confirming that JSU’s desire to move up was in place before the moratorium went into effect, with the aim of being grandfathered into the process.
