JSU Biology Student to Enter UAB Doctoral Program


T. J. Hollingsworth

The Biology Department is proud to announce that Mr. T. J. Hollingsworth has been accepted into the Ph.D. program in Vision Sciences at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. 

T.J. graduated from JSU in April, 2007, cum laude with honors in Biology.  His area of concentration at JSU was Cellular and Molecular Biology. 

T. J. spent the summer of 2006 at the University of Maryland where he did research in the laboratory of Dr. Leslie Pick.  The results of his summer research, “Over-eating in larvae due to over-expression of genes in Drosophila melanogaster”, was presented at the spring 2007 meeting of the Association of Southeastern Biologists at the University of South Carolina. 

T. J. will begin his studies at UAB during the Fall Semester.  His faculty mentor at JSU is Dr. LaJoyce Debro.
