Distance Education Offering New & Revised Blackboard Training Workshops in August

Get the Blackboard training you need for your Fall 2007 online and Blackboard supplemented courses!

During the month of August, the following new and revised faculty training opportunities are available from the Office of Distance Education:

Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

(Please register before 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7)

Getting Familiar with My Blackboard Course (1.5 hours)

Topics covered in this workshop include system requirements, logging into Blackboard, My Institution tab, accessing a course, basic content addition, instructor/course announcements and staff/faculty information.

Friday, August 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

(Please register before 12:00 p.m., Thursday, August 9)

Adding Content and Assignments (1.5-2 hours)

Topics covered in this workshop include course design, functionality and creation of learning units, glossary, assignment creation/submission tool, course links, course copy procedures and settings. This workshop is geared towards faculty who have completed the “Getting Familiar with My Blackboard Course” or the equivalent.

Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

(Please register before 12:00 p.m., Monday, August 13)

Quizzes, Tests, and Surveys (1.5-2 hours)

Topics covered in this workshop include test pools and quiz/test/survey construction and deployment. This workshop is geared towards faculty who have completed “Adding Content and Assignments” or the equivalent.

Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

Academic Excellence: Using Blackboard for Better Learning (1.5 hours)

This workshop is designed to show administration how and why Blackboard impacts student learning. Topics focus on what Blackboard can do for online and traditional courses as well as the additional educational technology resources that are available to faculty at JSU for effective course development.

Monday, August 20, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

Communication Tools (2 hours)

Topics covered in this workshop include Blackboard email functions, discussion board, virtual classroom, chat, user groups and student homepages. This workshop is geared towards faculty who have completed “Adding Content and Assignments” or the equivalent.

Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

(Please register before 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 21)

Gradebook, Reporting, and Performance Dashboard (1.5-2 hours)

Topics covered in this workshop include grade entry/modification, gradebook management, gradebook download, review status, adaptive release and performance dashboard. This workshop is geared towards faculty who have completed “Adding Content and Assignments” or the equivalent.
