History Lesson Helped JSU Cruise

The scoreboard at halftime indicated Jacksonville State was in a position of control, but Gamecocks head coach Jack Crowe wasn't convinced.

He remembered the way last year's game with Samford went in Birmingham. It had a similar halftime score and the Gamecocks needed a late takeaway to seal another victory in the series.

Given that history, Crowe knew if his team didn't establish itself right out of the gate in the third quarter, it could be in for the same kind of dogfight.

The Gamecocks took their coach's plea for urgency to heart. They scored the first two times they had the ball in the third quarter and went on to win 55-7.
