21st Southern Classic
Band Contest Sept. 23

Jacksonville State University's Paul Snow Stadium will be the site of the 21st Southern Classic Band Contest on Saturday, Sept. 23, with opening ceremonies beginning at 2:45 p.m. Under sponsorship of University Bands and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Professional Music Fraternity for Men, the Southern Classic will present a dozen high school bands from Alabama and Georgia who will perform their fall exhibition shows. It will be an opportunity to see and hear some outstanding regional bands for a full afternoon of music and pageantry on the field. The event will conclude with the presentation of awards and a performance by The Southerners of JSU. The Southerners will present their exhibition show celebrating the 50th anniversary year of their naming. Admission is $5 and the event is open to the public.
