Former Gamecocks Find Job Close to the Hardwood

Four players off last year’s Jacksonville State basketball team are starting their professional careers in basketball, two as coaches, two as pro players.

Tim Lewis has joined the Alabama coaching staff as a graduate assistant, ostensibly taking the spot created by Antoine Pettway joining JSU coach Mike LaPlante’s staff as a full-time assistant. Brad Peters is a new grad assistant on the Florida State staff.

Former Gamecocks assistant Torrey Ward earlier this summer left to become an assistant at Ole Miss.

As for the players signing pro contracts, record-setting point guard Walker D. Russell recently signed a six-figure deal to play in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and leading scorer B.J. Spencer has signed to play in Spain.
