Jacksonville to be Focus of TV Promos

Don't change the channel, those commercials, live weather updates and festival promotions in Jacksonville on your television screen are no illusion. Starting in September, Birmingham television station ABC 33/40's “Hometown Focus” program will begin airing Jacksonville-themed spots.

In July, City Council members agreed to pay for the program, sharing the $10,000 cost with Jacksonville State University and the Jacksonville City Board of Education.

“Hometown Focus” will feature 68 commercials about Jacksonville over a one-month period, along with links to the city's Web site and promotions for city events. A few scenes already have been filmed on the Public Square, at City Hall and at Jacksonville High School.
