United Way Day of Caring

The United Way Day of Caring is just around the corner and the JSU community is encouraged to come out and represent the our campus for a good cause.

JSU's team of volunteers will meet Friday, August 18, at 8 a.m. at the Jacksonville Day Care Center to tackle a number of tasks such as cleaning and caulking gutters, replacing playground swing chains, replacing broken window panes, some exterior painting, and lots of yard maintenance including mowing, weed-eating and tree trimming. Supplies for the projects will be provided by JSU and/or the Day Care Center; however, volunteers will need to bring ladders (preferably extension-type), mowers, weed-eaters, trimmers and other usable equipment. As in years past, breakfast and lunch will be provided, and Dr. Meehan has granted permission for volunteers to participate without using any of their annual leave.

For more information or to volunteer to be on the JSU team, please contact Joe Whitmore, director of the Office of Special Services, at ext. 8555 or e-mail him at whitmore@jsu.edu.
