138th Basic Session Graduates

The graduation ceremony for the 138th Basic Training Class of the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy (LEA) was held Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the Anniston City Center. The commencement speaker was the Honorable Drayton Nabers, Chief Justice for the Alabama Supreme Court.

The Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy offers four basic training courses per year. These courses are designed to provide the entry level law enforcement officer with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to begin their careers in law enforcement.

Sixty-three cadets attended the 138th Basic Session of JSU's Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy (LEA) at McClellan for state-mandated police training. These 63 members of LEA's 138th graduating class took the oath of office upon graduating from the Academy.

Police departments screen potential cadets, hire them and send them through basic training at a cost of $4,000 to $6,000 each. Cadets attend this basic training session for 12 weeks. The 138th session began May 7, 2006.
