College Football Notebook: Jacksonville State
to Offer Coaching Minor

Students at Jacksonville State University will soon be able to earn a minor in coaching. The 18-credit hour program will add to the current 12-credit hour coaching concentration. Jeff Chandler, head of the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, presented the new program to the JSU board of trustees Monday morning.

Classes already offered instruct students in sports conditioning, first aid/athletic training and coaching theory. What the concentration lacks is sports-specific classes.

Chandler said coaches and faculty are interested in helping teach courses and the program will provide the university with more recruiting opportunities.
