Insight by Harvey Jackson: Keep the Football Money in Alabama
I asked myself, for the humpteenth time, why do our signature universities, the
prides of our football-loving state go . . . [out of state] to find teams to trounce when they could have any number of our
fine state schools that would love to take the licking and pick up the check? Not for the exposure ó games not on TV. Not for the experience ó losing
may build character, but why not closer to home? . . . itís the money. Alabama schools ó JSU, UAB, Troy, North Alabama,
West Alabama ó could use the money, too. So why donít UA and AU replace the out-of-state roll-overs on their schedules
with homegrown ones and spread their wealth among us? See story at The Anniston Star's website: www.annistonstar.com.
