United Way Campaign Closes
with Drawing Nov. 22

Dear JSU Faculty and Staff,

United Way agencies affect so many people’s lives in positive ways, through providing health care, through assisting during times of disaster, through providing outlets for young people to grow, achieve, and learn through positive role models, through programs to assist senior citizens, and through many other important community programs. We encourage you to help make all these things possible through your contribution to United Way in 2005.

This year’s United Way Campaign motto is “Committed to...what matters,” and all the United Way agencies are counting on our financial commitments to enable them to do the many wonderful works they do. Even the smallest gift brings big returns. Giving just $5 a month for a year will provide seventeen home-delivered meals to an elderly or disabled person; security in a local shelter for a mother and her children who are escaping domestic violence; one week of after-school care for two underprivileged children at a local youth center; one week of groceries for two families through a local food bank.

Giving is so easy for JSU employees; your pledge can be deducted from your paycheck. You may also donate through personal checks made out to United Way and with cash.  Even if you pledged money to United Way for 2004-2005, you must fill out a new pledge form and designate an amount for the 2005-2006 campaign, or payroll will not continue to deduct your donation.

All who donate this year will receive a Thank-You card that may be used all year at places like Applebee’s, Garfield’s, IHOP, Strut’s, The Barn, and other places. Also, as we bring this year’s campaign to a close, we will hold a drawing on Tuesday, November 22, at which one lucky contributor to this year’s campaign will receive a reserved parking space for a year.  If you have already contributed, your name will be included in the drawing. If you haven’t sent your pledge yet, you still have time to do so.

We have personally visited many of the agencies in our area that receive United Way funds and have worked on the Allocations Committee that designates those funds, and we can assure you that your money will go to the agencies to assist them in their work. Any amount you can afford to give will be appreciated and well used.

Please return faculty pledges to Gloria Horton at 115 Stone Center and staff forms to Joe Whitmore at 224 Bibb Graves by November 21.  If you have any questions or if you need another pledge form, call Gloria at #5409, or Joe at 8555.

            Thank You!

Your Jacksonville State University United Way Campaign Coordinators,

                                                                  Gloria Horton

                                                                  Joe Whitmore
