International House to Hold Annual U.N. Day Tea Oct. 23

Jacksonville State University's International House is holding their annual United Nations Day Tea Sunday, October 23 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Colonel C.W. Daugette Jr. International House. The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. Professor Jaibin Zhou, of Wuhan, China, is guest of honor at this event.

JSU faculty, staff and the public are invited to the tea, where this year's students will be formally introduced and refreshments will be served.

Dr. Ketterer said the United Nations is an important organization because of the media and business connections that exist among countries. The United Nations is the “entity that must peacefully coordinate a harmonious relationship where the self interests of businesses and countries must be represented.”

“The International House at JSU,” he said, “provides a model of harmonious cooperation and leadership.”

According to the United Nations website at www.un.org , the United Nations came into existence on October 24, 1945, when the charter was ratified by “China, France, The Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and by a majority of other signatories.” United Nations Day is celebrated on October 24 each year.
