Writers' Club Sets Nov. 4 Contest Deadline

The Jacksonville State University Writers' club has set 4 November 2005 as the deadline for entries in the Dr. Robert U. Moersch Short Fiction Competition.

"There are a few changes from last year," said Randy Wilson, president of the club. "We will allow multiple submissions this time."

However, there will be limit of 15 pages of text plus title page. A student may submit as many stories as they want, but they may not exceed the 15-page limit.

Prizes include an engraved plaque and a $100 cash award for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place.

Only one submission per student may place in the top three.

The competition is open to all students in good standing at JSU regardless of class standing or major. You do not have to be a member of the club to enter.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on November 30 at the Gamecock Center. The gathering will include a public reading of several of the stories submitted. All submissions are eligible for the public reading.

For more information, call Dr. Pitt Harding at (256)782-5859 or send e-mail to pharding@jsu.edu.
