Take a Friend/Loved One
to the Health Fair Sept. 20

Counseling and Career Services and the JSU Peer Educators are sponsoring a project called Take a Friend/Loved One to Health Fair on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 in Theron Montgomery Building (TMB), second and third floors, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 

This annual event is linked to the national "Take a Loved One to the Doctor's Day." Various agencies countywide are participating in outreach project for all Calhoun County residents.

The West Anniston Foundation is providing free diabetes checks and obesity screening. Considering this event as one of its "For Your Life!" outreach projects, the foundation is giving all participants a free t-shirt. The Health Services Center, Hobson City, and AIM of Birmingham are providing free HIV/AIDS testing. The Calhoun County Mental Health Center is providing free depression screening. The RMC Wellness Connection bus will be parked in front of TMB to provide free blood pressure checks. Weight Watchers is providing giveaways and will be signing up those interested in joining a fitness program designed for healthy weight loss. Other participants include the JSU Nursing Department, the JSU Student Health Center, the Calhoun County Extension Service, and Calhoun County Health Department.

  • STD Information
  • Mental Health Issues
  • Depression
  • Stress Management
  • Fitness
  • Breast Cancer Awareness
