Summer Commencement this Evening

Jacksonville State University’s Summer 2005 commencement will be held this evening at 7:30 p.m. in Paul Snow Stadium.  Congressman Robert Aderholt will deliver the commencement address (See related article).

In the event the weather prevents an outdoor rehearsal or exercise, the commencement activity will be held in the Mathews Coliseum.  The commencement will remain at 7:30 p.m. with the location changed to the Mathews Coliseum.

Local radio stations and campus security will announce any decision to locate the commencement activity in the Mathews Coliseum should weather become a factor.  Call the Graduation Hotline, 782-8197, for changes in the rehearsal or ceremony location.

Commencement will be televised live on WJXS-TV 24 (local Cable One Channel 9). Other cable companies with TV 24 include Cable One (Anniston, Oxford, Pell City, Munford and Jacksonville); Charter (Piedmont, Southside and Heflin); Leesburg Cable; Collinsville Cable; Lookout Cable (Gaylesville); and Cherokee County  Cable (Centre).

Family and friends can view the graduation ceremonies live from their home computers. There will be a link available on the JSU website: www.jsu.edu. The ceremonies will also be archived for two weeks after commencement.

The top ten graduates include Vanessa Leigh Washburn, of Gallant, AL with a Grade Point Average of 3.91; Kevin Robert Stephen, of Anniston, AL with a GPA of 3.90; Vu Tien Nguyen, of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam with a GPA of 3.78; Angie Rae Daniel, of Munford, AL with a GPA of 3.77; Matias A. Anselmo, of Argentina, with a GPA of 3.77; Cynthia Mae Pace, of Tuscumbia, AL with a GPA of 3.76; Joseph M. Bone, of Southside, AL with a GPA of 3.74; Ashley Jan Johnson, of Piedmont, AL with a GPA of 3.73; Tammy Rushing Formby, of Dawson, AL with a GPA of 3.73; and Christopher R.
