St. Mark's Basilica -- built in the eleventh century.

Piazza San Marcos (St. Mark's Plazza) is the largest plaza in Venice -- it has the government houses on three sides and the Basilica and the Doge's Palace on the fourth. Across from the Doge's palace and the basilica is the clock tower that was built in 1496.

The Rialto Bridge is one of three bridges across the grand canal, and it is about halfway between the train station and Piazza San Marco's. The structures on the bridge are little shops.

San Giorgio Maggiore is a small island in the Venice lagoon.
