Walters Department of Music at Jacksonville State University will be shown during the same evening on four consecutive dates at the end of this month. The performances of The Telephone and A Question of Taste take place at Stone Center on the following dates and times: Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 29 at 8 p.m., Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 31 at 2:30 p.m. Cost: $5 for students, $8 for adults. Call 782-5876 Mon.-Fri. from 2-5 p.m. for information.

Opera aficionados may attend a dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Friday night, Oct. 29, at Classic on Noble, who is sponsoring the event. It will feature a discussion of both operas with plenty of good food, dessert and wine. The community is welcome to enjoy the dinner and performances for a combined cost of $45.

The Telephone is a comedic opera about a man's attempts to ask his girlfriend life's important question. He realizes his best opportunity will be to call her on the telephone, since that is her favorite mode of communication.

A Question of Taste is about a character who wages his daughter's hand in marriage. She, however, is already in love with another character. The outcome promises an interesting resolution.
